Larry Gunn was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Larry’s musical talent comes from a long legacy that runs deep through his veins. This legacy began with Larry’s grandfather, who was a member of a Gospel quartet. Larry began singing in night clubs at the age of sixteen, where he had to tell a white lie about his age just to enter the club. He won three talent shows in a row, the prize being eight hours of studio time, where he recorded his first record. He wrote his own material. Soon after that, Larry recorded his first album in Nashville, Tennessee. He was then picked up by a record label. The album did very well, scoring four hits in the Top 20 Billboard charts. Larry began touring, opening for major artists such as Willie Nelson, Lee Greenwood, David Allen Coe and many others.
Then one day during a show with more than two thousand people in attendance, he realized that something was wrong. Larry was not happy being around the drugs and alcohol that were always present at these shows. It was not the way he wanted to live his life. He knew that there was more to life than the constant partying. He wanted to change lives and help people, not join them in their illicit fun.Soon after he realized that his life had to change, one of Larry’s wonderful friends gave him a book about the Holy Spirit. Larry then began to learn more about Jesus and felt the love that Jesus had for him. He knew that the Holy Spirit had singled him out. Larry started changing overnight. Then the day came when the Holy Spirit told Larry, “Tell the world about Jesus through your music. Use the voice that I have given you to sing for the Lord.” Larry says that the Holy Spirit talks to him and leads him in the direction he needs to follow. Larry then began to talk to people about Jesus, the Holy Spirit and about his life, the pain he has endured. He passes this on to other people in a very special way. He knows that God gave him a very big job to do and that he can do it with God’s help and leadership from all the wonderful people he has met.
Larry and his wife lost their son in January of 2010. The Holy Spirit has helped Larry to get his wife through this tragic event. His wife asked one day, “Why do I have to hurt so bad? Why can’t God take this pain away?” Larry prayed about this and Jesus gave him the answer. Jesus said, “If I take the pain away, then you never knew your son.” Larry is ready to get started in his new music ministry. You can hear his love for the Holy Spirit. Thank you and God bless you.
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods Psalm 95:1-3
